About

Located at Lake Perris State Recreation Area between Moreno Valley and Perris, this specialized equestrian campground provides seven primitive campsites designed specifically for horse owners. Each site is equipped with a fire pit, picnic table, and two corrals, with watering troughs available throughout the horse camp area. The entire campground is unpaved and offers excellent views of the surrounding landscape. Campsites accommodate up to eight people and two horses per site, with a minimum of one horse required. The driveway length is approximately 25 feet, and sites can typically fit two vehicles with trailers, one vehicle with a trailer and one self-contained RV, or three vehicles maximum. Drinking water is available on-site, and chemical toilets are provided, though there are no shower facilities or hookups. Campers are responsible for mucking out stalls and cleaning up after their horses. The horse campground provides access to equestrian trails throughout Lake Perris State Recreation Area, though dogs are not allowed on trails. Reservations can be made between two days and six months in advance through the California State Parks reservation system, or sites may be available for same-day walk-up camping. The campground operates year-round with a nightly fee of $25 per site. The park has a maximum stay of 30 nights per calendar year, with a 15-night consecutive limit during peak season from June 1 through November 30.
