About
Wildomar Campground serves as a gateway to the Wildomar OHV Area, the only off-highway vehicle recreation area on public lands in Western Riverside County. This small, 11-site campground is conveniently nestled within the Santa Ana Mountains, approximately 15 miles from Lake Elsinore and 30 miles from San Juan Capistrano, making it easily accessible for Southern California riders. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis and maintains a light usage level, providing a quieter camping experience compared to larger facilities. Basic amenities include vault toilet facilities, though potable water is not available at the campsites themselves. Well water is provided at the OHV trailhead. The campground enforces a 22-foot maximum vehicle length restriction due to site constraints. Wildomar Campground connects directly to an extensive trail system suitable for various off-highway vehicles, including a Tot lot area for beginning and young riders. The location offers scenic mountain terrain and serves as an ideal base camp for multi-day OHV adventures. Each campsite typically includes a fire pit and picnic table, and the area is subject to seasonal fire restrictions and occasional weather-related closures.
Directions
From Lake Elsinore, travel west on Highway 74 (Ortega Highway) approximately 12 miles up into the mountains. At the intersection with South Main Divide Road, turn left and follow south for approximately 9 miles to the Wildomar OHV area and campground.
