About
Beryllium is a dispersed camping area along Forest Service Road 225 (Beryllium Road) in Pike National Forest, approximately 5 miles south of Lake George via County Road 96. The 4-mile unpaved road winds through coniferous forest and open meadows at elevations around 9,000 feet in the South Park Ranger District. As part of the Badger Flats Management Area, camping is restricted to designated dispersed campsites (marked with campsite markers) or locations more than one-quarter mile from National Forest System roads. The area is popular with off-road vehicle enthusiasts due to the extensive OHV-friendly trail network. Nearby fishing destinations include Spinney Reservoir, the Dream Stream, and Eleven Mile Reservoir. This is primitive dispersed camping with no developed facilities. Campers must be fully self-sufficient, pack out all trash, and practice Leave No Trace principles. Cell coverage is available from AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile.
Directions
From Lake George, Colorado, head south on County Road 96 for approximately 5 miles. Turn onto Forest Service Road 225 (Beryllium Road), an unpaved road within the Badger Flats Trail Network. Look for designated dispersed campsites marked with campsite markers.
