Conklin Park Campground is a peaceful, primitive campground tucked along a small creek in the Plumas National Forest, approximately eight miles northwest of Frenchman Lake. With only nine sites, it offers a quiet, uncrowded camping experience at 5,900 feet elevation. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-proof food locker. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out campground with no potable water and no garbage service. Vault toilets are provided. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a 14-day stay limit, maximum of 6 people per site, and 2 vehicles per site. OHV use is prohibited. The campground sustained severe damage from the 2021 Dixie Fire. Repairs and restoration work are ongoing. Bears are active in the area; proper food storage in the provided lockers is required.
Directions
From Portola, head east on Highway 70 to Beckwourth, turn left on County Road 111 and travel north approximately 9 miles to Forest Service Road 26N70, then continue approximately 9 miles to the campground.
