Conklin Campground is a quiet, nine-unit campground situated along a small creek in the Plumas National Forest, approximately eight miles northwest of Frenchman Lake on the Beckwourth Ranger District. Located at 5,900 feet elevation, this campground offers a peaceful mountain setting for those seeking a more rustic camping experience. The campground sustained severe damage from the Dixie Fire in 2021, and ongoing repairs continue to restore the area. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and food locker for bear-safe storage. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water or garbage service, so campers must bring their own water and pack out all trash. The campground operates seasonally with reduced fees from late May through early September, and no services or fees during the shoulder seasons until weather forces closure. Access is via Highway 70 to Beckwourth, then County Road 111 north for nine miles to Forest Service Road 26N70, continuing another nine miles to the campground. Sites accommodate up to six people and two vehicles, with a 14-day stay limit. Senior and Access passes provide a 50% discount on camping fees.

From Portola head east on Highway 70 to Beckwourth. Turn left on County Road 111 and proceed north for approximately nine miles to Forest Service Road 26N70. Proceed approximately nine miles to campground.
