About

Cold Brook Campground is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility on Cold Brook Lake, created when the dam was completed in 1953. The 12 primitive campsites are spread through roughly 450 acres of public lands featuring rugged hills, evergreen trees, and crystal-clear water. Sites 12 and 13 sit directly on the lake while the remaining sites require a short walk or drive to the water. The 33-acre lake prohibits gasoline motors, making it ideal for canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, and electric-motor vessels. Anglers target largemouth bass, northern pike, channel catfish, carp, rainbow trout, and panfish. The beach is popular for swimming and snorkeling during summer. A wildlife area at the north end offers a non-motorized two-track trail for hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing. The campground provides vault toilets, potable water near the camp host site, fire rings, grills, picnic shelters, a playground, boat ramp, and archery range. Each site accommodates one wheeled camping unit plus a small tent, or two tents. A camp host is on site during the season.

Directions

From Hot Springs, head north on US-385. Shortly after the speed limit increases to 35 mph, turn left onto Badger Clark Road. At the T-intersection, turn right onto Evans Street. Follow as it curves sharply left, then stay right at the split and go up the hill. The road turns to gravel; continue to the campground.
