Cobb Ridge Campground serves as the primary developed camping facility for visitors to the Chadwick Motorized Trails System in Mark Twain National Forest. The campground offers 43 campsites in multiple loops, including single, double, and triple units designed to accommodate groups of various sizes. Sites range from basic non-electric to electric hookups with 30 and 50 amp service plus 110 outlets. Both back-in and pull-through sites are available, along with dedicated tent-only sites and two group sites. The main attraction is the adjacent Chadwick riding area, featuring nearly 80 miles of multi-use trails for motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides (50 inches or less), and mountain bikes. Trail difficulty varies from easy to technically challenging, with some segments being very rocky, steep, rough, and rutted. Trails wind through deep forested hollows and along long ridge tops in terrain characterized by oak, hickory, and pine woods with scattered surface rock, occasional ledges, and patches of eastern red cedar. A Chadwick riding permit is required for trail use and can be obtained at the Ava District office or Casey's General Store in Sparta. The campground is located 30 miles from Springfield and Branson attractions, and 20 miles north of Lake Taneycomo.

Directions

From Chadwick, take Highway 125 south about 2 miles, turn right onto Highway H and continue past Camp Ridge day-use area. Turn right onto Lookout Road (paved section) to Cobb Ridge Recreation Area, approximately 0.5 miles. From Forsyth, take Highway H north approximately 14 miles, turn left onto Lookout Road to the campground.
