About

Brookshire Campground is a small, primitive camping area located in the Santa Lucia Ranger District of Los Padres National Forest. With only 2 sites nestled among oak trees, this campground is ideal for those seeking solitude and a more rugged camping experience. The area is popular with off-highway vehicle enthusiasts and hunters, offering access to OHV trails and hunting opportunities in the surrounding forest. The campground provides basic amenities including picnic tables at each site, but campers must be self-sufficient as there is no potable water available. The remote location and limited facilities make this campground best suited for experienced campers who are prepared for primitive conditions. The area can accommodate trailers up to 16 feet in length, though the access road (Forest Road 11N04) may be challenging for larger vehicles. An Adventure Pass or Interagency Pass is required for day use and overnight camping at Brookshire. The campground is accessed via Sierra Madre Road and Miranda Pines Road from Highway 166 near Santa Maria, making it one of the more remote campgrounds in the forest.

Directions

From Santa Maria: Take Highway 166 east to Sierra Madre Road. Follow Sierra Madre Road to Miranda Pines Road. Take Miranda Pines Road to Forest Road 11N04 and turn right into Brookshire Campground.
