About

Brookshire Campground is a small, primitive camping area tucked away in the oak woodlands of the Santa Lucia Ranger District within Los Padres National Forest. With only 2 campsites, this is an ideal destination for campers seeking solitude and a rugged backcountry experience away from developed facilities. The campground is particularly popular during fall hunting season. The campground serves as a trailhead for both the McPherson Peak Trail and Aliso Trail, making it a useful base camp for day hikes or extended backcountry trips. Campers should come fully prepared as there is no potable water on site. An Adventure Pass ($5/day or $30/year) or valid interagency pass is required for parking.

Directions

From Santa Maria, take Highway 166 to Sierra Madre Road. Continue on Sierra Madre Road to Miranda Pines Road. Take Miranda Pines Road to Forest Road #11N04 and turn right into Brookshire Campground.
