About

Brooks Memorial State Park Campground is a 682-acre established camping area located in the Simcoe Mountains, 13 miles north of Goldendale on Highway 97. The park sits at the transition zone between the barren hills of the south Yakima Valley and the lodgepole pine forests of the Simcoe Mountains, creating diverse natural environments for visitors to explore. The campground offers a mix of RV sites with full hookups featuring 50-amp electrical service, standard tent sites, and three reservable wall tents. RV sites provide ample space for slide-outs, and water is available at hookup sites from mid-April through late October. The park includes modern restrooms with showers and a dump station. Some sites near overhead power lines may experience buzzing noise, and all campers should expect some highway noise from nearby Highway 97. Over nine miles of hiking and equestrian trails lead through ponderosa and Oregon pine forests along the Little Klickitat River, offering opportunities for wildlife viewing and experiencing the area's seasonal wildflowers and expansive meadows. The park features a disc golf course, large open fields, rustic kitchen shelters, and panoramic mountain views. Its location provides exceptional dark sky viewing and convenient access to Goldendale Observatory State Park Heritage Site, one of the best stargazing locations in the Pacific Northwest. Nearby attractions include the Maryhill Museum, Stonehenge replica, and Columbia River Gorge wineries and orchards.
