Beaver Lake State Park Day Use

Open — The park is open year-round for day use. Camping and cabin facilities operate seasonally from mid-May through Labor Day, but day-use areas remain accessible in winter for activities like ice fishing and trail use.

Special Weather Statement issued March 16 at 9:28PM CDT by NWS Bismarck ND

March 16th, 9:28 PM — 4:00 AM

An area of precipitation is forecast to develop across western and central North Dakota late tonight into Tuesday morning. Most of the precipitation could fall as snow, with high chances for at least one inch of accumulation along and east of Highway 83. However, there could also be a period of light freezing rain after the snow ends, and far western parts of the state could just see light freezing rain. The western half of the state has medium chances for at least a glaze of ice accumulation through Tuesday morning, with lower chances to the east. The snow and freezing rain could make roads very slick for the Tuesday morning commute. Be sure to allow extra time to reach your destination, and check the latest road conditions before departing. Do not use cruise control when driving on icy roads, and leave plenty of stopping distance ahead of you. Temperatures are expected to quickly warm above freezing from west to east from mid Tuesday morning through the afternoon.

About

The day-use area at Beaver Lake State Park offers visitors access to a peaceful lakeside setting on the western shore of 968-acre Beaver Lake. The facility includes two small picnic shelters, each equipped with six picnic tables and electricity, available for reservation. Lake access is provided via a boat ramp and kayak launch, with a designated swim beach for summer activities. The park features 5.14 miles of non-motorized trails accessible from the day-use area, ranging from the 0.32-mile Beaver Lake Nature Trail to the 2.28-mile Moraine Loop Trail. The trails wind through rolling prairie, woodlands, and along the lake shoreline, offering opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and wildlife observation. The park's landscape showcases native prairie grasses and wildflowers, with scenic views carved by glacial activity. The day-use area provides access to year-round activities including fishing, which transitions from shore and boat fishing in summer to ice fishing in winter. Flush toilets, showers, and a sewage dump station serve park visitors. The historic park, established in 1932, features a stone cairn commemorating the efforts of early settlers from Logan, McIntosh, and Emmons counties.
