Withrow Springs State Park is a 786-acre park nestled in a small valley in the Ozark Mountains, five miles north of Huntsville in Madison County, Arkansas. The campground offers two camping options: 29 Class AAA sites equipped with water, 50-amp electric service, and sewer hookups for RVs, and 10 walk-in tent sites with new tent pads that can accommodate up to 8-person tents. Both areas are shaded by lush trees and feature modern barrier-free bathhouses with hot showers and flush toilets. The park serves as a popular put-in point for War Eagle Creek, a north-flowing Class I stream typically floatable from March to mid-June depending on rainfall. A shuttle service operates for floaters using rental canoes. Beyond water activities, the park features three hiking trails, a public swimming pool, tennis courts, baseball and softball fields, a nature playground, and picnic areas. The visitor center houses a gift shop and snack bar. Withrow Springs takes its name from Richard Withrow, an early settler who received an 1840 land grant encompassing the natural springs in the area. The Civilian Conservation Corps developed the park during the 1930s, and it was dedicated as a state park in 1935. The combination of forested hillsides, spring-fed creek, and historic stone structures creates a quintessential Ozark camping experience.
