About

Ackerman Campground is located on the shores of Lewiston Lake, eight miles north of Lewiston on Trinity Dam Boulevard within the Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area. The campground sits at 1,900 feet elevation at the base of Trinity Dam, with mostly unshaded sites featuring some deciduous and conifer trees. Each of the 51 sites includes a picnic table and grill/fire ring. Lewiston Lake is a cold, crystal-clear reservoir roughly 5 miles long and a half-mile wide, featuring a mountainous shoreline ranging from marshlands to dense forest. The lake offers excellent fishing for kokanee salmon, rainbow, brown, and brook trout. Kayaking is popular due to the 10 mph motorboat speed limit. Fairview boat ramp provides Trinity Lake access 3 miles north, while Pine Cove boat ramp accesses Lewiston Lake 2 miles south. The 2-mile North Lakeshore Trail offers hiking opportunities. Amenities include flush toilets, potable water, and a dump station. Sites accommodate trailers and RVs up to 40 feet. The campground operates year-round with first-come, first-served availability; reservations are accepted May 21 through September 10 via Recreation.gov.
