About
College Campground is a small, intimate tent-only campground located on Huntington Lake in the Sierra National Forest at approximately 7,000 feet elevation. The 10 sites are shaded by dense fir and pine trees, with some in open meadow-like spaces and others in wooded settings. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and a dirt and grass parking spur. Select sites offer lake views and the option to moor boats nearby. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the Kaiser Wilderness, with trailheads for Rancheria Falls, Indian Pools, Black Point, and the 12-mile Kaiser Loop Trail nearby. Huntington Lake itself offers swimming, sailing, fishing, water skiing, and boating. The Billy Creek Guard Station museum provides historical context on Huntington Lake and the Forest Service. California Land Management sponsors interpretive programs throughout summer at locations around the lake basin. Bear-proof food storage containers are required. The campground enforces a maximum 14-day stay, with reservations requiring a 2-night minimum on weekends and 3-night minimum on holidays. Vehicle length is limited to 30 feet, making this campground unsuitable for larger RVs.
