About

Angel of Shavano Campground is a scenic tent-camping destination at 9,200 feet elevation in San Isabel National Forest near Maysville, Colorado. Named after an angel-shaped snow pattern that appears on Mount Shavano, the campground offers wooded sites among aspen and spruce trees along the North Fork South Arkansas River. The river provides fishing opportunities for rainbow and brook trout. This first-come, first-served campground does not accept reservations. Sites include fire rings and access to potable water via hand pump. Vault toilets are available. The campground is better suited for tent camping, though small RVs can be accommodated. Each site allows parking for two vehicles or one RV; a third vehicle costs $10 extra. Maximum occupancy is 8 people per site. The Angel of Shavano Trailhead for Colorado Trail #1776 is directly across from the campground, providing access to hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Bears are active in the area, and all attractants must be stored properly. Dispersed camping is available along the 4x4 road (CR 240) between Angel of Shavano and North Fork campgrounds.
