About

Mount Princeton Campground is nestled in Chalk Creek Canyon, one of the most popular recreation areas in the upper Arkansas River Valley. At 8,000 feet elevation, the campground provides a base camp for exploring the surrounding San Isabel National Forest, accessing nearby hot springs, and enjoying the dramatic mountain scenery. The campground features 19 single-family sites, each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. Wheelchair accessible vault toilets serve the facility, and firewood is sold on-site. Some sites accommodate larger RVs up to 45 feet. Sites 1, 14-17 are first-come, first-served, while remaining sites are reservable through Recreation.gov up to 6 months in advance. Camping and campfires in Chalk Creek Canyon are restricted to developed campgrounds only. The area sees heavy weekend use, often filling by Thursday or Friday. Campers who cannot secure a site may camp above the townsite of St. Elmo on 4WD Road 267.
