About

Bootleg Campground offers a rustic camping experience for hikers along the Colorado Trail, the 500-mile route connecting Denver to Durango. Situated at approximately 9,500 feet in the Sawatch Range, the campground provides a convenient overnight stop for through-hikers and a base for day hikers exploring the surrounding terrain. This is a walk-in tent camping facility with no vehicle access to sites. Amenities are limited to a vault toilet (available only during peak season) and a shared family fire ring with benches. There is no potable water; campers must bring their own supply or treat water from nearby sources. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with an overnight fee of $10 per site, payable via self-service fee tube or the Recreation.gov Scan and Pay app. Site limits allow a maximum of 8 people, 2 tents, and 2 vehicles per site. Dogs are permitted but must remain leashed at all times. Firearms and fireworks are prohibited.
