Visitor Phone Line Intermittent
You may experience problems reaching park staff via the main visitor phone line which functions intermittently. You may email the park at lavo_information@nps.gov with general park questions.
Lasting Effects from 2021 Dixie Fire
Some facilities, infrastructure, and areas remain closed; please adhere to all closure signs. In re-opened areas, hazards like fallen trees, loose/falling rock, undefined trails, and hidden stump holes exist. Click more to learn about burned area safety.
Bumpass Hell Trail Open
The Bumpass Hell Trail is open for hiking. Caution: stay on trail and boardwalk in the geothermal area! Visitors have been severely burned by hidden geothermal features.
Park Fire Closure
The Boundary of the Park Fire Closure area has been reduced. Exhibit B (map) shows new closure boundaries and Exhibit A includes a list of roadways and trails within closure area.
Lassen National Forest Camping Restrictions
Forest Order No. 06-24-01 limits the number of days and individuals camping on the Lassen National Forest.
Lake Almanor Recreational Trail Restriction
Forest Order No. 06-24-03 limits the use of motor vehicles as well as saddle animals, pack animals, and draft animals, on the Lake Almanor Recreation Trail.
Lake Almanor Area Camping Restriction
Forest Order No. 06-24-02 limits camping in the Lake Almanor Overnight Use Closure Area.
