About
Wellington State Park encompasses 220 acres on the southwest shore of Newfound Lake in Bristol, New Hampshire. The park is renowned for having the largest freshwater swimming beach in the New Hampshire state park system, with crystal-clear waters from one of the deepest lakes in the state. The beach features lifeguards, a bathhouse, and designated boat lanes for watercraft access. The park offers hiking trails with scenic lake views, picnic areas with tables scattered along the shore, and kayak and canoe rentals. Two picnic pavilions are available for group reservations. Volleyball and horseshoe courts provide additional recreational opportunities. Unlike most state parks, Wellington does not offer traditional campground facilities. Camping is restricted to organized youth groups only, available at three remote locations: Belle Island, Cliff Island, and Rocky Hill. These sites must be reserved in advance by calling NH State Parks headquarters at least two weeks prior to arrival. The park operates as a day-use facility from mid-May through the summer season.
