Wellington State Park sits on the shores of Newfound Lake in Bristol, offering the largest freshwater swimming beach in the New Hampshire State Park system. The lake is renowned as one of the clearest and deepest in the state, making it ideal for swimming, paddling, and fishing. The park provides hiking trails along a peninsula with access to multiple peaks, as well as recreational facilities including volleyball and horseshoe courts. Camping at Wellington is limited to organized youth groups only, with sites located on Belle Island (25 people max), Cliff Island North (20 people), Cliff Island South (60 people), and Rocky Hill (30 people). Groups must provide their own boat transportation to access island sites. Traditional family or RV camping is not available at this park. Youth group camping operates from late May through Columbus Day weekend, requiring advance reservations through NH State Parks headquarters. The park also features two pavilions available for group rental, a snack bar, bathhouse with restrooms, and kayak rental services. The boat launch provides free 24/7 access via NH Fish & Game.
