The campground is open for the 2026 season. Reservations are accepted April 1 through October 31 until 10:00 PM CST on day of arrival. Some cabins and shelters remain closed until May 31, 2026 due to a waterline project. Playground and Dutch Creek Shelters are unavailable until a new septic system installation completes, anticipated by June 2026.

About

Wapsipinicon State Park is a 400-acre park located near Anamosa in Jones County, Iowa. The campground sits along the limestone bluffs and wooded valleys of the Wapsipinicon River, providing a scenic setting for overnight stays. The park offers 28 reservable campsites including standard electric sites with 20/30 amp service, non-electric sites, walk-to tent sites, and one full hookup site with 50-amp capability. The modern campground features shower buildings, restrooms, water hydrants throughout, and trash dumpsters. Pull-through sites range from 40 to 60 feet, making it suitable for larger RVs. Note that no dump station is available at the campground. The park also offers day-use facilities including an accessible lodge and shelters. Beyond camping, the park features fishing opportunities on the river, hiking trails through the wooded bluffs, and historic CCC-era stone structures. The park is popular for its natural beauty and relatively quiet atmosphere compared to larger Iowa state parks.
