About

Turkey Flat OHV Staging Area serves as a base camp for off-highway vehicle enthusiasts in the hills of San Luis Obispo County. The facility provides direct access to 45 miles of marked and rated trails suitable for ATVs, quad runners, dual sport motorcycles, and single-track riders. A kids track is available for beginner riders learning the basics. The terrain is mostly rocky and hard-packed, with views of the coastline and Sierra Mountains on clear days. The campground offers four primitive sites on a first-come, first-served basis at $30 per night. Each camping fee covers one vehicle and one tent, trailer, or RV, with extra vehicles at $10 each. Day use parking at the staging area costs $10. Facilities include picnic tables and two vault toilets. There is no potable water, dump station, or hookups, so campers must be completely self-sufficient and pack out all trash. Quiet hours are 10 p.m. to 8 a.m., and the stay limit is 14 days. Pets must be on a leash no longer than six feet. Fires are permitted only in designated fire rings, and a California Campfire Permit is required for camp stoves. All OHVs must have red or green stickers and spark arrestors, with a noise limit of 96 decibels.
