About
Navajo Flat OHV Staging Area serves as both a primitive campground and trailhead in the Santa Lucia Ranger District of Los Padres National Forest at 1,920 feet elevation. The facility includes six campsites, four of which are reservable through Recreation.gov while two remain first-come, first-served. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table, with five sites featuring shaded canopy structures. A single vault toilet serves the area, though campers must bring their own drinking water as no potable water is available. The campground is considered a mecca for motorized recreation, providing direct access to 45 miles of marked and rated multi-use trails designated for motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles. Riders can access trails directly from their campsites, making it an ideal base for OHV enthusiasts. All vehicles must have proper spark arrestors and OHV registration. The day use area and trailhead are open year-round, though the facility may close temporarily during the rainy season to protect roads and trails. Camping fees are $30 per night with a $10 extra vehicle fee. Senior and Access Pass holders receive a 50% discount on camping fees. Maximum stay is 14 days, with quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
