About

Tookers Island Campground sits on Tookers Island in Rock Harbor Channel, part of Isle Royale National Park's remote archipelago in Lake Superior. This small campground is accessible only by canoe, kayak, or private boat and offers 2 shelters available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground features a dock with approximately 7 feet of depth under normal conditions where boats can overnight, making it a convenient stop for paddlers and boaters exploring the Rock Harbor area. The campground operates with a 3-night maximum stay limit during the peak season from June 1 through Labor Day. Facilities include composting toilets (seasonal) and non-potable water. The terrain throughout the campground is uneven and rough, and facilities are not accessible. As with all Isle Royale campgrounds, only self-contained stoves are permitted, open fires are not allowed, and visitors must follow strict food storage guidelines to prevent wildlife interactions, particularly with wolves on the eastern end of the island. Isle Royale National Park is one of the most remote national parks in the United States, requiring advance planning and preparation. Weather conditions can change rapidly due to Lake Superior's influence, and many mainland services are unavailable on the island. Dogs, cats, and other pets are not allowed in the park. Quiet hours run from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. EDT. While no fee is charged for camping, a free overnight permit is required, and all park visitors must pay an entrance fee.
