About
Spicer Reservoir Campground is a developed Forest Service campground located nine miles southeast of Highway 4 on Spicer Reservoir Road (7N01) in Stanislaus National Forest. The campground offers approximately 43 sites for tents and RVs up to 50 feet, with paved camp roads and parking spurs. Amenities include vault toilets, potable water, picnic tables, fire rings with grills, and bear boxes at each site. Firewood is available for purchase from the camp host. The reservoir spans 2,000 acres at full pool and provides excellent fishing and boating opportunities. The lower portion allows motorized boats with a 10 mph speed limit, while the upper arm adjacent to the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness is managed exclusively for non-motorized use, ideal for canoes and kayaks. A boat ramp is available nearby. The campground is operated by Royal Elk Park Management. Visitors should note that all RVs and vehicles with trailers must approach via Rock Creek Road rather than Mosquito Road, as those vehicles cannot cross the single-lane suspension Mosquito Bridge.
