About
Pine Marten Campground occupies a scenic forested setting on the eastern shore of Lake Alpine within Stanislaus National Forest. At 7,400 feet elevation in Alpine County, the campground features mature conifer forest and proximity to multiple trailheads. All 32 standard nonelectric sites include picnic tables, campfire rings with grills, and access to bear-proof food storage boxes. Vault toilets and potable water via spigots serve the campground. Lake Alpine offers excellent recreational opportunities including fishing, swimming, kayaking, paddle-boarding, and boating. Wildlife is abundant with squirrels, chipmunks, deer, marmots, coyotes, bears, and various bird species. The adjacent Lake Alpine Lodge provides a general store, restaurant, bar, boat rentals, firewood, hot showers, and laundromat facilities. The campground is suited for tent camping and smaller RVs, though the narrow roads, tight turns, and uneven asphalt driveways make it challenging for larger rigs. Nearby attractions include Grover Hot Springs, Mercer Caverns, and the wine country of Calaveras County.
Directions
