About

South Skookum Lake Campground sits on the shore of a scenic 32-acre, 15-foot-deep lake in Washington's Colville National Forest. The 25-site campground provides a quiet setting for fishing, kayaking, swimming, and wildlife viewing. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table, and the campground offers vault toilets and potable water from faucets. Two docks near the boat launch provide shore fishing access, with one dock fully accessible. The lake is relatively small and best suited for boats under 20 feet. The unimproved ramp works for canoes, kayaks, and small motorboats. A Washington state fishing license is required, and lead weights and jigs are prohibited. South Baldy Lookout, still staffed in summer, is visible from the campground and makes a popular day hike. Quiet hours run from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and the maximum stay is 14 days. Pets are welcome on leash. Bears and cougars are present, so proper food storage is required. Firewood should not be transported; buy or gather locally to prevent pest spread.
