About
Sparking Lake Francis Case draws visitors to Snake Creek Recreation Area. The park is popular with boaters and anglers, as well those looking for scenic beauty along the Missouri River. History buffs will enjoy knowing that the Lewis and Clark expedition traveled through the area, where they were told to watch for "burning bluffs" along the river. Stay in one of the two campgrounds with either a basic site or one with electricity. One-room cabins have sleeping accommodations for four people (2 twin beds and 1 full bed) and are furnished with a table, benches, outside fire grate and picnic table. Cabins are open year-round, so heating and air conditioning is provided. The beach and boat ramp beckon you to the beautiful water at Snake Creek Recreation Area, while anglers can make good use of the fish-cleaning station. Children will have fun going for a catch in their own fishing pond. Dock 44 Marina, privately operated at the park, not only has a marina, but cabins, a restaurant, convenience store and floating fuel dock. One of the unique local attractions is Red Rock, an upstream rock several hundred feet high once used as a landmark for steamboat captains.
