About

Patrick Creek Campground occupies a scenic spot at the confluence of Patrick Creek and the middle fork of Smith River in the vast Six Rivers National Forest of northern California. The campground has a distinctive character thanks to historic features built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, including stone steps, rock walls, rustic restrooms, and sunken campfire circles. The campground offers 13 accessible campsites with flush toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings with grills. A paved 0.2-mile universal-access trail leads to a fishing platform at the river confluence. Adjacent day-use areas provide river access to swimming holes and fishing spots. Popular activities include swimming, sunbathing, rafting, and fishing in the Smith River, which hosts healthy populations of salmon, steelhead, and cutthroat trout. While there are no trailheads within the campground, Elk Camp Ridge, High Dome, and French Hill trailheads are all within 10 miles. A historic lodge and restaurant sit just across Highway 199 from the campground.
