About
Pacific Valley Campground occupies a scenic spot where meadow meets mixed conifer forest along Pacific Creek in California's Stanislaus National Forest. Situated at approximately 7,600 feet elevation on the Highway 4 corridor between Lake Alpine and Ebbetts Pass, the campground offers easy access to the Mokelumne Wilderness, Mosquito Lakes, and the Mokelumne River drainage. The 19 designated sites are spread through the meadow-forest interface, each equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. Vault toilets serve the campground, and potable water is available from hand pumps. The narrow mountain road and site configurations make this campground unsuitable for trailers. The area provides good fishing opportunities in Pacific Creek and nearby waters. Pacific Valley operates on a first-come-first-served basis with no advance reservations. The campground typically opens in late May or June after snowmelt allows access to Highway 4, and closes in fall when snow returns. Quiet hours run from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with check-in at 2:00 p.m. and check-out at noon.
Directions
From Lake Alpine, head east on Highway 4 for approximately 4 miles. The campground entrance is 1/4 mile south of Highway 4 at Pacific Valley, midway between Lake Alpine and Ebbetts Pass.
