About
John F. Kennedy Park is located on the Little Red River just downstream of Greers Ferry Dam in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of north-central Arkansas. Named for President Kennedy, who spoke at the dam's dedication shortly before his death, the park now welcomes over a million visitors annually to its scenic waters. The campground features 68 sites with electrical hookups, 44 of which also include water hookups. Modern amenities include flush toilets, showers, a dump station, picnic shelter, and boat ramp. A dense forest of red cedar, black gum, red oak, elm, pecan, and sweet gum trees provides shade in summer and brilliant fall colors in autumn. Greers Ferry Lake offers world-class outdoor recreation including boating, sailing, water skiing, swimming, scuba diving, and exceptional fishing opportunities. The Little Red River below the dam is famous for its trout fishing, including the world record 40 lb. 4 oz. brown trout. Wildlife abounds, with frequent sightings of white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, rabbits, squirrels, and numerous bird species. The nearby William Carl Garner Visitor Center and Greers Ferry National Fish Hatchery offer educational opportunities.
Directions
From Heber Springs, take SR-25 north 4 miles, cross the dam, and turn right on the second road.
