About
Gwynn Tank Campground is a relatively new facility on the Gila National Forest's Reserve Ranger District, having opened in June 2021. Located approximately 30 miles southeast of the village of Reserve via Forest Road 141, the campground sits adjacent to its namesake Gwynn Tank pond, which is historically stocked for recreational fishing and popular among anglers. The campground features seven developed campsites designed for tent camping, with three pull-through sites that can accommodate self-contained RVs up to 28 feet in length. Each site includes a picnic table and fire pit with ADA accessible fire rings. All campsites are accessible. A vault toilet is available for public use. The remote location offers a quiet camping experience surrounded by forest. The campground provides access to wilderness recreation opportunities and is situated in a relatively remote area of the forest. Visitors should be prepared for primitive conditions and come self-sufficient, as this is a developed but basic facility in a backcountry setting.
