Snow Play Closure

About
Cedar Creek (Sam Tobias Memorial Group Campground) is located on the outskirts of Ruidoso in Lincoln National Forest at 7,000 feet elevation. The campground is exclusively for group reservations and offers three large group campsites that can accommodate 60, 80, and 100 people, plus a day-use picnic pavilion for up to 40 people. Each group site includes accessible pavilions, picnic tables, campfire rings, grills, and vault toilets. The campground was renamed in honor of local firefighter Sam Tobias, who lost his life in the line of duty in 2000. The recreation area provides excellent access to hiking and mountain biking trails, including the T90 Fitness Trail (1.3 miles with exercise stations), biking trails T120 A-D and T121 A&B, and an expert-only downhill mountain bike trail. Wildlife viewing opportunities include mule deer and elk. The campground is perched along Cedar Creek in a meadow setting with thick, green foliage.
Directions
From Ruidoso on Mechem Drive, take Cedar Creek Road (Forest Road 88) west 0.5 miles. The campground is the second set of facilities on the right (north), located immediately adjacent to the north of the Smokey Bear Ranger Station.
