About

Camp Three Campground occupies a scenic stretch of the Upper Kern River in Sequoia National Forest at 2,800 feet elevation. The campground is shaded by oak and locust trees with cottonwoods and willows lining the river's edge. The 52 paved individual sites and three group camping areas offer a comfortable base for exploring the Kern River Canyon and surrounding forest lands. The Upper Kern River is renowned for whitewater kayaking and rafting, and fishing opportunities abound. Swimming is prohibited due to strong currents and other hazards. The Cannell Meadow National Recreation Trailhead is located just north of Kernville for day hiking. Day trips to Sequoia National Park, Trail of a Hundred Giants, and numerous sequoia groves in Sequoia National Monument are all within reach. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table. Vault toilets and potable water are provided throughout the campground. Glass containers are prohibited in the Kern River area. Camping is limited to 14 consecutive days within any 30-day period. Campers must obtain campfire permits, available at ranger stations or online at preventwildfireca.org.
