Overview

Sonoma Coast State Park is currently open with camping availability. This expansive 5,000+ acre park stretches 17 miles along the Pacific Coast from Bodega Head to approximately 4 miles north of Jenner. The park features developed camping at Wright's Beach (27 sites, max 27' trailers) and Bodega Dunes (99 sites, max 31' trailers), plus primitive environmental camping at Willow Creek (11 sites) and Pomo Canyon (21 sites). Note that one restroom/shower facility in Loop 2 at Bodega Dunes is currently closed for maintenance, with alternate facilities available. The park is known for dangerous surf conditions and is NOT suitable for swimming—heed all warnings about sneaker waves and stay back from the waterline. Dogs are prohibited on Goat Rock Beach, Salmon Creek, and Bodega Dunes beaches due to protected western snowy plover habitat (federally threatened species), but are allowed on leash at 10 other specified beaches including Blind Beach, Shell Beach, and Wright's Beach. Drones are prohibited throughout the park. Peak whale watching season is winter from Bodega Head, and harbor seal pupping occurs March-August at Goat Rock (maintain 50-yard distance). Day use fee is $10/vehicle, camping ranges from $25-$45/night depending on location.
