* WHAT...Southwest winds 15 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt and seas 4 to 6 ft expected. Winds become northwest at 15 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt Wednesday night. * WHERE...The coastal waters from Ocracoke Inlet to Surf City. * WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 7 AM EST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Conditions will be hazardous to small craft. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Moderate southwesterly winds persist this morning ahead of an advancing cold front. The winds will then become northerly late Wednesday, with moderate northerly winds then continuing into Wednesday night.

Costly Outcome: Shark Island
Located near the Point of Cape Lookout, a sandbar has begun to connect, known as Shark Island, which lies outside of Cape Lookout's jurisdiction. The sand in this region is soft, making it difficult to navigate, increasing the risk of becoming stuck.
