About
Lodgepole Campground is a developed campground in the Stanislaus National Forest, located two miles west of Lake Alpine on Highway 4 at 7,290 feet elevation. The campground occupies a large, flat plain near a creek within the central Sierra Nevada Mountains, between Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. The 19 campsites accommodate up to 6 people, 3 tents, and 2 vehicles each. Amenities include vault toilets, a hand-pump well for water, fire rings, and picnic tables. The facility has narrow roads with tight turns and numerous boulders and trees, making it challenging for larger RVs. Hot showers and laundry are available at nearby Lake Alpine Lodge. Recreation opportunities abound at Lake Alpine. The Bear Valley trail winds along the lakeshore connecting to the historic Emigrant Trail. A restaurant, bar, general store, and boat rentals are available at Lake Alpine Lodge. Big Trees State Park, Grover Hot Springs, and Mercer Caverns are a short drive away.
