Grayback Campground And Group Sites - Reserve
The campground operates seasonally from mid-May through mid-October. Individual sites remain open until October 31, while group sites close September 30. Reservations available through Recreation.gov; sites 2, 4, 7, 8, 11, and 15 are first-come, first-served only.

About
Grayback Campground occupies a hillside setting about a quarter-mile above Highway 21 in the Boise National Forest, surrounded by ponderosa pine forest at 4,200 feet elevation. The campground offers 15 single sites and 3 double sites in the main area, plus two large group sites capable of hosting 100-150 people each. All individual sites feature paved parking, picnic tables, lantern hooks, and campfire rings with grills. Potable water is available from accessible hand pumps, and vault toilets serve the area. Mores Creek flows just below the campground, offering fishing for rainbow trout and whitefish. The Grayback Loop Trail provides an easy 1-mile hiking option that begins within the campground. Historic Idaho City lies just two miles north, with restaurants, shops, a museum, and visitor center. The surrounding area offers extensive recreation including hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and OHV trails. In winter, the region becomes popular for backcountry skiing and snowmobiling. Highway 21, the Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway, provides access to hot springs and other historic sites.
Directions
From Boise, Idaho, take State Highway 21 north for 36 miles. The campground access road is on the east side of Highway 21, between mileposts 36 and 37. Turn right and proceed less than a mile to the campground.
