Stovepipe Wells Campground

Closed

Closed for the summer season due to extreme heat. Typically reopens mid-October and remains open through mid-April. All 190 sites are first-come, first-served with no advance reservations.

About

Stovepipe Wells Campground sits at sea level in the heart of Death Valley, offering sweeping views of Death Valley proper and the iconic Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes. The 190-site campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with fees paid at the automated pay station using credit or debit card. Sites accommodate RVs, trailers, tents, and vehicles, though the sites are notably narrow and somewhat short. The campground provides seasonal amenities including flush toilets, potable water, dump station, and trash collection. Only 28 designated tent-only sites have NPS fire grates where wood fires are permitted; charcoal grills are prohibited but gas stoves with on/off switches are allowed throughout. Firewood is available for purchase at the adjacent general store. Stovepipe Wells Village, located next to the campground, offers additional services including pool and shower passes for purchase and complimentary Wi-Fi. Generator hours are 7 AM to 7 PM, quiet hours are 10 PM to 7 AM, and stays are limited to 30 days. Each site allows up to 8 people with 1 RV and tow, 2 cars, or 4 motorcycles.
