Orogrande Campground #1 And #2

Open

Open year-round, first-come first-served, no fees. Snow may prevent access during winter months. No potable water; campers must bring their own or filter from nearby sources. Pack out all trash.

About

Orogrande Campground #1 and #2 occupies both sides of Crooked River Road in Idaho's Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. The river side offers an open, grassy area directly on the bank of Crooked River, while the non-river side provides a more secluded setting suitable for a single family or small group. At 4,520 feet elevation, the campground provides a primitive backcountry experience with at least three established camp pads. Facilities include vault toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables. There is no potable water on site; campers must treat or filter water from nearby sources. Trash service is not provided, so pack out what you pack in. The campground is free and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. The area is popular with anglers fishing Crooked River and OHV riders exploring nearby trails. Access requires traveling 11.5 miles on Crooked River Road, a forest road that may be impassable during winter snow conditions.

Directions

From State Highway 14, turn south on Crooked River Road #233 (approximately 7 miles west of Elk City) and travel approximately 11.5 miles to the campsite.
