About

Cheoah Point Campground occupies a wooded peninsula on Lake Santeetlah in the Nantahala National Forest, situated in a mature hardwood forest at 1,760 feet elevation. The campground covers steep terrain with many sites offering lake views. The 23 campsites include 17 standard nonelectric sites and 6 RV sites with 15/30/50 amp electrical hookups. Each site has a table and campfire ring with grill. Flush toilets, hot showers, and drinking water are available throughout. Lake Santeetlah covers 2,800 acres and offers fishing for trout, walleye, smallmouth and largemouth bass, bream, and crappie. Swimming, boating, canoeing, and jet skiing are popular activities. The adjacent Cheoah Point Beach provides a swim area, and a boat ramp operates year-round. The nearby Wauchecha Bald Trail connects to the Appalachian Trail. Great Smoky Mountains National Park lies a short drive away for day trips. Maximum occupancy is 8 guests and 2 vehicles per site. Quiet hours are 10 PM to 6 AM. Pets must be leashed in the campground but are not allowed on the swim beach.
