About

Larry Creek Group Camp is a designated group campground situated in the Bass Creek Recreation Area of western Montana's Bitterroot National Forest, between Missoula and Hamilton. The campground occupies a low-elevation site forested with pine, spruce, and fir trees, west of the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge. Wildlife including mule deer, white-tailed deer, elk, moose, and various birds frequent the area. The site features a large covered pavilion with picnic tables, a central campfire circle with grills, and ADA-accessible paved paths connecting facilities including vault toilets and a hand pump for drinking water. A volleyball court, interpretive trail, and fitness trail are located within the campground. The 9-mile Bass Creek Trail begins just south of the campground, leading to scenic overlooks and fishing opportunities along Bass Creek and at Bass Lake. The campground accommodates up to 75 people and 10 vehicles, with a maximum vehicle length of 30 feet. A food storage order is in effect from March 1 through December 1 annually due to bear activity in the area.
