Snow Camp Lookout
Closed for the season. The lookout typically opens mid-June and closes late September, weather permitting. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov. Contact the Gold Beach Ranger District at least four days before arrival to confirm the combination lock code.
Alcohol Prohibitions
This Order describes acts that are prohibited upon lands, roads and trails within the National Forest System administered by the Forest Service Pacific Northwest Region in regards to alcoholic beverages.
Aquatic Invasive Species
This Order prohibits 1) possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic invasive animal species AND 2) prohibits possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic or riparian invasive plant species - on National Forest System lands in the Pacific Northwest Region as specified in the Order.

Snow Camp Lookout sits at the peak of Snow Camp Mountain in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, offering spectacular 360-degree views from 4,223 feet. The current structure was rebuilt in 2004 after the original was destroyed in the 2002 Biscuit Fire. A local contractor and frequent visitor organized volunteers to ensure this rustic lodging opportunity would continue. The 15x15-foot cabin is furnished with a double bed, table and chairs, counter space, a wood-burning stove for heat, and a propane cooking stove with lighting. A port-a-potty is located near the lookout. Guests must bring all water for drinking, cooking, and washing. Firewood is not supplied. Access requires driving Forest Road 1376 from Brookings (about 33 miles), then hiking the final 200 yards to the summit. The hike can be strenuous with gear, though a wheelbarrow is provided. Visitors must wash their vehicles including undercarriage due to Port Orford cedar root disease concerns in the area.
Directions
From Brookings, Oregon and US Highway 101, turn onto North Bank Chetco River Road (County Road 784). In approximately 8 miles this becomes Forest Road 1376. Continue approximately 25 miles to Forest Road 590 which has a yellow gate. The lookout is 0.5 mile ahead. Although you can drive within sight of the lookout, the final 200 yards to the summit requires hiking.
