About

Texas Flats is a primitive group campground situated along McGilvery Creek in the Highway 41 Corridor of the Bass Lake Ranger District, Sierra National Forest. The campground is divided into four reservable group areas: Manzanita, White Fir, Red Fir, and Cedar. Each site features picnic tables and campfire rings. Vault toilets are provided, but there is no potable water on site. This is a horse-friendly campground, welcoming equestrian groups who can utilize nearby logging and forest roads as trails. However, no corrals or horse facilities are available. The maximum vehicle length is 20 feet, making this unsuitable for large RVs. Nearby attractions include the Shadow of the Giants trail, a popular one-mile interpretive loop through the Nelder Grove of giant sequoias. Yosemite National Park is accessible as a day trip, and the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway passes nearby. This is bear country; all food must be stored in bear-proof containers.
