The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality in Raleigh NC has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for Ground Level Ozone for Lincoln, Gaston, and Mecklenburg counties, until 8 PM EDT. An Air Quality Action Day means that Ground Level Ozone concentrations within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. Park Wide Caution
Visitors should exercise caution when hiking areas of the park that have opened since Hurricane Helene. Hazards on trails and in forested areas such as hanging tree limbs, debris on the ground, and washed-out sections of trails and bridges are possible.
