* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations 2 to 4 feet. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will create blowing and drifting snow along with whiteout conditions at times. * WHERE...The Eastern Lake Ontario Region. Greatest snow accumulation expected south of Watertown and Fort Drum. * WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Whiteout conditions are expected to continue today and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Travel will remain very difficult with hazardous conditions from lake effect snow continuing to impact travel through the week. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lake effect snow is expected oscillate several times downwind of Lake Ontario this week. Forecast snowfall amounts could be much higher where lake bands persist during this long duration event.

* WHAT...West winds to 40 knots and waves 15 to 19 feet. * WHERE...The nearshore and open waters of Lake Ontario from Hamlin Beach to the Saint Lawrence River. * WHEN...Until midnight EST tonight. * IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.

* WHAT...West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. * WHERE...Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Jefferson, Genesee, Wyoming, and Chautauqua Counties. * WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
