The Flood Watch is cancelled for a portion of south central Arizona, including the following areas, Apache Junction/Gold Canyon, Dripping Springs, Globe/Miami, Northwest Pinal County, Pinal/Superstition Mountains, San Carlos, Sonoran Desert Natl Monument, Southeast Gila County, Superior and West Pinal County. Flooding is no longer expected to pose a threat tonight. Please continue to heed remaining road closures.

FFWTWC The National Weather Service in Tucson has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for... Western Graham County in southeastern Arizona... East Central Pinal County in southeastern Arizona... * Until 1245 AM MST. * At 1027 PM MST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms produced heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen in the Aravaipa Watershed. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. A stream gauge in the Aravaipa Canyon showed a rapid 6 foot rise and this flood wave is moving downstream. Hikers and campers should move away from the creek now. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Aravaipa Canyon Wilderness. This includes the following streams and drainages... Deer Creek, Telegraph Wash and Aravaipa Creek.

Casa Grande Ruins National Monument closed for the Christmas holiday

Casa Grande Ruins will be closed Wednesday, December 25th for the Christmas Holiday. The monument closes to the public four days each year, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Juneteenth, and Independence Day. The park will reopen on December 26th.
