An arctic front will move west to east across the region this morning, bringing snow showers and wind gusts of 35 to 40 mph. Some snow squalls are also possible along the front, briefly reducing visibilites to one-half mile or less and quickly coating area roadways. Drivers are urged to use caution and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions.
Gale Warning issued January 19 at 3:01AM EST until January 19 at 7:00PM EST by NWS Cleveland OH
* WHAT...For the Gale Warning, west winds 25 to 35 knots with gusts up to 40 knots and and waves 1 to 4 feet are expected for areas that are ice free on Lake Erie . For the Low Water Advisory, abnormally low water levels expected. * WHERE...The nearshore waters of Lake Erie from Maumee Bay to Vermilion OH, and the open waters of Lake Erie from Maumee Bay to Vermilion OH. * WHEN...For the Gale Warning, from 7 AM this morning to 7 PM EST this evening. For the Low Water Advisory, from 7 AM this morning to 10 PM EST this evening. * IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. Below normal water levels will result in hazardous navigating conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...At Toledo, the critical mark for safe navigation is currently 9 inches below the low water datum. As of 230 AM EST, the water level at Toledo was at 10.8 inches above the low water datum. Water levels are expected to fall below that critical mark later this morning. The lowest water levels are expected to occur this afternoon into the early evening before they slowly rise later tonight.

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 15 to 20 below expected. * WHERE...Portions of north central and northwest Ohio. * WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to noon EST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...The cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
