Overnight snow showers and brief snow squalls have impacted road conditions in portions of the region and may continue into the early morning commute. Even brief periods of snowfall may result in slick and hazardous travel conditions, especially during the morning rush hour. Motorist are urged to use caution, allow extra travel time, and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions. Conditions are expected to gradually improve later this mornig as snow activity diminishes.

* WHAT...West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts between 45 and 50 mph. * WHERE...Cameron, Elk, McKean, Northern Clinton, Potter, and Warren Counties. * WHEN...Until noon EST today. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong winds will also be accompanied by lake effect snow showers, which will reduce visibility and make roads slick.
Lake Effect Snow Warning issued December 30 at 2:22AM EST until January 1 at 7:00PM EST by NWS Cleveland OH
* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations up to 24 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph through this evening. * WHERE...Crawford and Southern Erie Counties. * WHEN...Until 7 PM EST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Initial round of lake effect snow will bring an additional 2 to 6 inches of snowfall through tonight. Another impactful period of heavy lake effect snow will begin this evening and continue through Thursday evening. Snowfall amounts during this timeframe will range between 10 and 15 inches. Locally higher amounts up to 18 inches are possible where snow bands persist.

Winds gusting as high as 45 mph creating considerable blowing and drifting snow. * WHERE...McKean and Warren Counties. * WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Another round of significant snowfall is expected Wednesday afternoon into early Thursday morning. Additional snowfall amounts could exceed 6" in northwest Warren and McKean counties.
