...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IS CANCELLED FOR THE NORTHWEST PLATEAU, NORTHEAST PLAINS, WEST CENTRAL BASIN AND RANGE, AND NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS... ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 PM MDT THIS EVENING DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THE WEST CENTRAL MOUNTAINS... .Critical fire weather conditions today focus over west central portions of the state, with elevated to near critical conditions prevailing elsewhere. Isolated dry storms in central and northern New Mexico this afternoon may start new fires and create gusty and erratic outflow wind gusts. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque NM has issued a Red Flag Warning in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to 7 PM MDT this evening. * AFFECTED AREA...West Central Mountains (Zone 105). * TIMING...From 1 PM this afternoon to 7 PM MDT this evening. * 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Relative Humidity between 10 to 15 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
WNP Bookstore Closed 9/3
The bookstore at the visitor center will be closed all day on Wednesday Sept 3 for inventory. The visitor center will remain open from 9-5. The bookstore will be open again on Thursday Sept 4 at 9am. Online shopping is available at: https://store.wnpa.org
Pet Policy
Pets are not allowed inside the visitor center at Aztec Ruins, nor are they allowed on the archaeological trail through Aztec West. Pets are welcome in the parking lot, the picnic area, and along the Old Spanish Trail. Service animals are the exception.
