South Central Cibola County in west central New Mexico... * Until 430 PM MDT. * At 359 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 26 miles southeast of El Morro, or 29 miles south of Grants, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Flash Flood Warning issued September 19 at 3:19PM MDT until September 19 at 5:00PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM
At 319 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated that the thunderstorms producing heavy rain near Laguna Pueblo had ended, but another storm producing heavy rain was approaching from the southwest. Between 1.25 and 1.75 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.75 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Laguna Pueblo, New Laguna, Mesita and Paraje. This includes Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 108 and 118.
