Brochure InfoHarding Lake State Recreation Area, 45 miles south of Fairbanks on the Richardson Highway, is one of the longest standing park facilities in the Alaska State Park system, having been established in 1967. All together there are over 90 campsites, including five walk-in group campsites. The park also has numerous picnic sites and two picnic shelters. In addition, areas have been set aside for activities such as baseball, volleyball and horseshoes with equipment available at the ranger station. Hiking along nature trails is another activity available at Harding Lake SRA. A boat launch facility gives access to the lake for those having canoes, motorized boats, jet skis or other watercraft. A straight canal leads from the boat launch toward the center of the lake. There is fishing for lake trout, arctic char and burbot. Pike fishing is closed.Brochure Info - OrientationHaring Lake has a surface area of 2,470 feet. The lake is two and a half miles long. The deepest part of the lake is 142 feet.Brochure Info - RecreationFishing, boating, camping, hiking, biking, baseball, volleyball, horseshoes, and roasting smores are all popular activities at Harding Lake.Brochure Info - Facilities and RestrictionsThe main campground, consisting of 78 vehicle and five walk-in sites, is located in a spruce/birch forest. Many vehicle sites are large enough to accommodate large motorhomes or trailers. There is a limit of six people and two vehicles per campsite. Some sites are adjacent to others, allowing groups to park together. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. Firewood can also be purchased at the campground. Please use existing fire rings and picnic tables. Sanitary dump station, free if camping at Harding, $10 fee if dumping without camping. Additional camping space is also available for self-contained units week days at the Lake front day use area and additional camping for up to 10 camp units is available in the Camp Lot camping area, which is located close to the lake. Also, the game field parking lot can hold a maximum of 12 camping units.Key InfoDO NOT leave unattached boat trailers in the boat launch parking lot. Please park your trailer in the overflow parking lot or at your campsite if space permits. Any questions you have can be answered by the campground ranger or volunteer hosts. Additional camping space is also available for self-contained units, week days in the Lake front day use areaImportant Information for Daily EntranceDirectionHarding Lake State Recreation Area is located at mile 321.4 Richardson Highway approximately 40 miles south of Fairbanks. Follow the one mile access road to the park.Booking Window Product InfoFee Cancellation DescCancellations: Cancellations must be made at least 3 calendar days prior to arrival date for a full refund (does not include transaction/cancellation fees). Cancellations must be made through www.reserveamerica.com. You must cancel your reservations online, from your account. If you fail to cancel in a timely manner, or fail to use the facility for reasons other than the exceptions listed below, a refund is not available. Changes/Transfers: Changes/Transfers must be made 2 calendar days prior to your scheduled arrival date and incur a $3 change/transfer fee. Changes where the reservation is extended will not have an additional change fee. Refunds: Park Staff are not authorized to give cash refunds. Refunds for canceled reservations online will be made by issuing a credit to the card used for payment. Exceptions: If you were unable to use the facility due to events beyond your control, such as extreme weather/hazardous conditions (as determined by Alaska State Parks), or closure of a road, trail, or facility by the State, you may request a refund. Requests for refunds must be made within three (3) business days of the last date of your reservation to the Alaska Department of Natural Resources Public Information Center at 907-269-8400. Please provide your reservation number when you call. Extreme weather in the Northern Region is defined as Minus 30 F for the "Hunt Memorial", "North Fork", and "Chena River" Cabins; Minus 20 F for all other cabins and ice huts. In the event of a natural emergency or sudden campground/site closure, a full refund will be issued. The Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation reserves the right to make the final determination of whether a refund will be issued.
