About

Wildcat Campground is one of two camping areas at Hendy Woods State Park, located in the heart of Mendocino County's Anderson Valley wine country. The campground sits in a shaded mixed forest between the park's two magnificent old-growth redwood groves, Big Hendy and Little Hendy, where ancient trees reach over 300 feet tall and 1,000 years old. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and bear-proof food storage locker. The campground offers modern amenities including flush toilets, hot showers, and potable water. An RV dump station is available, though the park does not provide hookups. The park visitor center, located on the north side of Wildcat Campground, is staffed by volunteers most weekends from May through September and sells camping necessities and souvenirs. Nearby trails include the wheelchair-accessible Discovery Loop Trail through old-growth redwoods and the All Access Trail. The Navarro River runs along the park's southern boundary, offering swimming holes in summer months. The campground's proximity to Highway 128 provides easy access to Anderson Valley's renowned wineries and the town of Philo.

Directions

From Highway 101 in Cloverdale, take Highway 128 west approximately 30 miles through Boonville to Philo. Turn south on Philo-Greenwood Road; the park entrance is 0.5 mile on the left. The campground is located 3 miles west of Philo.
